Nice and all the Nice surrounding areas…
With Pete’s brother Nick making a trip to Europe, we decided to meet him somewhere for a few days, preferably where the sun was still shining. After lengthy discussions, we all agreed on spending a few nights in Nice and then hiring a car so that we could venture around the French Riviera through the days.

Pete and Nick in front of one of many many amazing 'super-yachts' at the Port of Nice. We figure if we out Nick on the website we should get more hits.
Nice is a beautiful town in France, on the Mediterranean Sea, not far from the border of Italy. It has huge beach and boardwalk and plenty of restaurants and cafe’s to enjoy especially within the Old Town. With Nick’s influence, we were able to spend 3 nights in a really nice hotel called Hotel Massenet (110euro, 3 bedder per night – also private parking for 10euro a day), and also dine in some delicious restaurants.
The Hop on, Hop Off Bus Tour throughout Nice was pretty disappointing and a tour we would not recommend. The independent audio guides that we were given provided little information and the actual tour was not very exciting. We saw more of the coastline, some beautiful hotels and well that was about it. The cost for this was 20 Euros per person, so we felt it was a bit of a rip off. What is worth doing though is speaking to any ‘Deck Hands’ working in the port on one of Billionaire’s superyachts. They can tell you some fascinating figures, like the fact that it costs around a million bucks to keep one of these giants boats on the water for a year.

Super yachts in the Port of Nice, on the French Riviera. It is a show of pure self indulgence by the worlds billionaires.
A night spot we were told to go to by one of the deck hands we met was Wayne’s Bar (in the Old Town) – not quite the delightful French Bar that we were expecting, but we still had a fun night and we recommend a young persons visit.
We spent a day visiting Monaco, which is the a tiny country half an hour drive north of Nice along the coast. If you know anything about Monaco its probably that its extremely wealthy and a tax haven. We thought about staying here a night but it wasn’t quite in Pete and Liss’s budget. Luxury cars line the streets, boutique shops everywhere and of the famous Monte Carlo casino. It costs 10euro to get in but there are some 5 euro tables that you can play on…. thankfully.
We saw a guy in the casino lose 10,000euro, apparently the day before someone took 1 mill from there. Small money for this place.
We drove on the Grand Prix track too, it makes up most of the main streets of Monaco, which is only 3km long and 1km wide.
After Monaco we drove south through some other amazing places on the coast. We recommend going as far south as St Tropez. It will take you most of the day, especially if you do what we did and stop in cool towns like Antibes, Cannes and St Tropez. Check out more photos below and in the gallery….
Ps: By The Shaw would like to thank Nick for joining them on their journey….. We had a blast with you bro!!!!

As well as a great beach Cannes also has more luxury shops in a row than Rodeo Drive, Beverley Hills

There is a row of fancy shops like this all along main street Cannes. A shoppers Paradise one would think. Not cheap though...
