Maine, USA
We were thrilled to be invited to spend the 4th July with Carl and Bridg’s family in Maine – a weekend of fireworks, campfires, water skiing and… a lot of fried chicken.
We drove from Boston which took about 3 hours passing by New Hampshire which surprisingly advertises their State with the following slogan – Live Free or Die. Maine’s slogan had a much nicer ring to it – ‘The Way Life Should Be‘. Arriving at Frank and Bernadette’s beautiful home that backed onto the lake definitely fitted well with Maine’s ideology .
Following an afternoon out on the boat, we sat down to an amazing dinner prepared by Bernadette and her sister Rose (the fried chicken cooked to perfection by Frank and Rick) and drinks poured a plenty into red cups (Frat party style).
A big thanks to Scott for taking us out later that evening for the fireworks display and for also hooning us around the lake whenever we felt like a ski.
The sunset in Maine each night was absolutely stunning along with the Loon (water bird) sightings.
A huge thanks to Bernadette, Frank, Allison, Turner, Rose, Rick, Anna, Alicia, Scott and Danielle. We had such a brilliant time celebrating with you and look forward to seeing you again…perhaps Australia Day 2012?
