Long Beach Island, New Jersey
Some time back we were sitting on a train at Mexico Airport being transferred between terminals and we started talking to an American lady called Nancy. We spoke to her for all of 2 minutes within which time she was kind enough to ask us to come and stay with her in Philadelphia when we eventually got to the East Coast.
Well a couple of months later we travelled by Bus from Washington D.C. to Philadelphia and thought lets just place the call. Before we knew it, we were on a train and making our way to the Coast as Nancy and her husband Mike invited us to their holiday house, in Long Beach Island, NJ ( a couple of hours by train from Philli).
As Aussie tourists, this location may not be the usual place to visit when in the States but if you do ever get the chance to go there, it truly is a beautiful beach town and we couldn’t believe our luck to be staying with two incredibly generous people in their gorgeous home right beside the beach.
To get to Philadelphia we caught a bus from Washington DC. The company is called Megabus (megabus.com) and they are not only the cheapest you’ll find but they also have free wifi onboard. (Our ticket from DC to Phili costs $9.25USD each). We passed Atlantic City on the way, which is a mini Las Vegas… It was tempting to stay.
Nancy and Mike, if you ever look at this blog, thank you so much for having us. Be sure to contact us if you ever come to Australia.
