Washington D.C., USA
From Chicago we flew east to Washington D.C. to begin our tour of the East Coast. WWhile we didn’t have long in Washington we knew there were a few things that we just had to see, and we recommend seeing the US capital if you are planning a visit to eastern america. It only requires a day to see things like:
1. The White House

The Whitehouse is amazingly assessable (at least to the gate anyway)! Barack wasn't home to greet us & ask us in for tea and strumpets
2. Abe Lincoln and the Lincoln Memorial

Ab Lincoln. This Memorial and statue is very impressive & inspiring. He was clearly a pretty important man. You can read the Emancipation Proclamation here.
3. Washington Monument
4. The Reflecting Pool and WWII memorial.
5. U.S Capitol Building
6. Home of the FBI
Among other things. There’s an enormous amount to learn about here and it’s a pretty self explanatory visiting destination. If you walk around you’ll find cool things to see and read. A huge amount of US history is reflected here.
It was a cracking summers day when we visited the lawn area between US capitol and Lincoln. There were heaps of people playing softball (too small an area for baseball, we assume) in the parks around the monuments and then the heavens opened and more rain than we’d seen in a decade came done in one hit!! It looked amazing from the Lincoln memorial. When the storm cleared we walked along the river for awhile and eventually found ourselves in Virginia, news to us at the time….
Check out more photos, thank you.
